It’s Halloween! We hope you’re having fun with loved ones, dressing up and treating yourself to a little bit of candy. We thought we’d take advantage of this spooky day to help you become better informed about a health condition that’s far too common among children who participate in sports: concussion.
Concussions are very scary, especially for children, and it’s important that parents be educated about how to spot and treat them. Keep in mind that all four of the technologically-advanced therapies we offer here at NeuraPerformance Brain Center in Denver, like GyroStim, can be used as rehabilitation following a concussion.
Grade 1: A state of confusion following a head injury that lasts for less than 15 minutes
Grade 2: A state of confusion combined with amnesia following a head injury that lasts for more than 15 minutes
Grade 3: Brief unconsciousness following a head injury that’s followed by serious amnesia
Now that you know how to spot concussions, we’re going to startle you with some facts about children and concussions:
Not all concussions are serious or result in permanent impairment, but when it comes to your kids you can never be too careful. If your child has experienced a Grade 2 or Grade 3 concussion, visiting our Brain Center for GyroStim and Neurofeedback therapy can help to prevent permanent damage.
