Gabi Whitmer

Neurofeedback Clinician and Clinical Supervisor

Gabi Whitmer, LPC is the lead neurofeedback clinician supporting South Metro Fire Rescue in Denver, CO. In addition to seeing clients at South Metro Fire, Gabi supervises the master's level interns that work with Plasticity. Her goal is providing the best care for clients and robust training for supervisees so that they may also provide high quality care for those seeking counseling and neurofeedback training.

Education and Credentialing

Gabi completed her undergraduate studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA where she played four years of collegiate basketball. She graduated from Emory with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. From Atlanta, Gabi moved to Denver, CO to earn her Master's degree in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver. Her clinical experience stems from years of working as a counselor and therapist at Eating Recovery Center in Denver. Upon completion of her licensure as a professional counselor, Gabi jumped full-time into outpatient work and neurofeedback training. She has completed the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Basic Training, Neurofeedback Didactic Course for the BCIA Board Certification in Neurofeedback, Heart Rate Variability Training course from the BCIA, QEEG Didactic Training from Stress Therapy Solutions, and the Clinical Supervision (Parts I, II, and III) provided by Noeticus Counseling Center and Training Institute. She also teaches the Introduction to Psychophysiology and Biofeedback class for the Sport and Performance Psychology students at the University of Denver.

Favorite Client Memory

Although this encompasses multiple clients, Gabi's favorite part of the client process has been seeing the stigma of mental health and wellness change at the fire department. As multiple clients saw huge improvements in their sleep, mood regulation, anxiety, and confidence, more and more people bought into the neurofeedback training process. She is thrilled that many people around the department refer to the training as "brain camp" and talk openly about their struggles and the process of moving towards healing and a healthier lifestyle.

Personal Info
